Following last year’s experience, we return as guests to Sa Marigosa, a historic presence in Sardinia’s fruit and vegetable sector, for an evening that will bring different ways of narrating the Mediterranean through music into dialogue. Opening the evening is the Mauro Palmas Trio, a formation that sees the Sardinian musician and composer with his plectrum instruments – liuto cantabile, mandola and mandoloncello – alongside two close companions from other musical adventures: Alessandro Foresti on piano and Marco Argiolas on clarinet and saxophone.
The concert program will revolve around the pieces from “Tra le mie corde”, the album that accompanies the book of the same name published a year ago, which narrates the artistic life of Mauro Palmas: a tale in the form of brief independent vignettes of unexpected yet real events, experienced from the 1970s onwards. The special participation of singer Gabriella Aiello at certain moments in the concert will open a window onto a more properly popular repertoire and add a particularly evocative vocal dimension to the evening.
For over forty years Mauro Palmas has represented one of the most authoritative figures in Sardinian and Mediterranean music, protagonist of a research capable of interweaving tradition and contemporaneity, popular memory and new compositions. The concert will offer a sonic journey in which the roots of Sardinia dialogue with the cultures of the Mediterranean, between original compositions, improvisation and a constant tension towards the encounter between different languages.
