Tigran Hamasyan

One of the most original pianists and composers of his generation, Tigran Hamasyan is an artist capable of redefining the boundaries between jazz, progressive rock, and Armenian musical tradition. Born in Armenia in 1987, he began playing the piano at just three years old and established himself on the international scene at a very young age, winning the piano competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2003 and, the following year, the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition.

His musical language combines virtuosity, rhythmic complexity, and a profound spiritual dimension. His compositions merge jazz improvisation, rock energy, and ancestral melodies from Armenian culture, creating a unique and distinctive sonic universe. Throughout his career, he has released critically acclaimed and internationally awarded albums, building a coherent and constantly evolving artistic path.

In recent years, Hamasyan has further expanded his research, developing conceptual and multidisciplinary projects that integrate music, narrative, and visual dimensions. His most recent work moves between tradition and contemporaneity, between human and digital, always maintaining at its core a tension toward transcendence and inner exploration.
