With Now More Than Ever, Brian Jackson brings to the stage a project that is at once memory, testimony, and renewal.
Produced by Louie Vega and Kenny Dope, the legendary Masters at Work, the new work revisits and reinterprets the repertoire written together with Gil Scott-Heron, bringing back to light some of the most significant pages of twentieth-century African American music. Tracks like The Bottle, Winter in America, Home Is Where the Hatred Is, and Lady Day and John Coltrane come alive again through new sounds, without losing their original power.
What makes this concert a unique experience is the presence of Brian Jackson himself: the only artist still able to tell these songs from within, having written them, lived them, and transformed them into soundtracks of an era. More than fifty years later, those themes—social justice, civil rights, inequality, and hope—resonate with surprising relevance.
More than a tribute to the past, Now More Than Ever is a dialogue between generations, a journey through jazz, soul, funk, and spoken word that restores all the power of music capable of transcending time and continuing to question the present.
