A masterclass dedicated to the discovery of the musical language hidden behind chords, scales, and harmonic progressions. Through a journey that combines theory and practice, Andrea Cutri will guide participants in exploring the principles governing the construction of music, transforming complex concepts into concrete and immediately applicable tools.
Starting from the organization of notes in the tonal system, the session will address fundamental themes such as scale degrees, harmonic numbering, chord construction, and the analysis of the most commonly used progressions in modern music. Ample space will be dedicated to the relationship between harmony and improvisation and the role of harmonic function—tonic, subdominant, and dominant—in creating the tension and resolution that shape musical emotion.
From rock to pop, from blues to jazz, the masterclass will show how the same principles can generate profoundly different sounds, offering participants a new awareness of their own musical language and useful tools for arranging, composing, and improvising with greater creative freedom.
