The project Sighida was born from the meeting between Mauro Palmas and Giacomo Vardeu, an intense dialogue between strings and bellows that traverses Sardinian musical tradition, projecting it toward the future. The title, which in Sardinian means “continuity” or “sequel,” encapsulates the profound meaning of this work: a living tradition in motion, capable of renewing itself without losing its identity.
The project brings together two generations of musicians: on one side, the experience and research of Palmas, a master of strings and a leading figure on the Mediterranean music scene; on the other, the energy and sensitivity of the young Vardeu, among the most interesting performers of the contemporary diatonic accordion.
A refined sonic alchemy takes shape on stage, where the liuto cantabile and mandola engage in dialogue with the accordion, creating a musical itinerary that intertwines past, present, and future. Original compositions are presented alongside reinterpretations of traditional pieces, in a dynamic balance between memory and innovation, between composition and improvisation.
The concert is further enriched by the presence of Elena Ledda, one of the most authoritative voices in Sardinian music, whose performance adds depth and intensity to a sonic journey capable of evoking Mediterranean landscapes, stories, and identities.
